Just when you thought that Hillary Clinton’s grip on the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination was set beyond question, could a new challeger come along and knock her out of the front runner’s position?
This week, there is a surprisingly strong resurgence in interest in a new presidential campaign by former Vice President Al Gore. If you tuned in to hear Randi Rhodes on Air America this afternoon, you would have heard her singing the praises of an Gore 2008 presidential campaign. The latest podcast from Irregular Times spends some time considering the lingering question of a Gore candidacy. Sources of Unconventional Sagacity asks who is taking climate change seriously, and comes up with the answer of Al Gore. At the same time, the America for Gore coalition is kicking their campaign into high gear.
Spread the word with this distinctive design, which expresses the political identity of Al Gore a lot better than a boring old rectangular sticker with a star and a swoosh - the generic design for any candidate. Green is Gore. Gore is Green. Go Green Gore. Go Gore Green!

Forget what Joseph Lieberman and his pro-war friends in the United States Senate say, with their non-binding limp-wristed resolutions encouraging a beligerent American foreign policy toward Iran. We the people of the United States of America know the truth. The truth is that Iran has engaged in no new actions to warrant this escalation of saber rattling from Congress and the White House. The IAEA reports that Iran is, in fact, complying with its requests, and there is new reason for hope that the nuclear energy program Iran has can be effectively managed.
Iran is making progress with the international community. Why is the American government trying to hide that fact?
It’s time for a people’s resolution, a Sense of America statement: We Americans are sick and tired of being pushed by our leaders into war, and we aren’t going to take it any more!
We the American people say no new wars. It’s time for peace, and it’s definitely time to say no war on Iran!

There’s an old saying out there that goes, “You can run and run for a long time before you realize that the thing that you’re really running from is yourself.” If ever there has been a politician who epitomized that saying, it has been George W. Bush. Everything that George W. Bush says he’s for, he ends up working against. Everything that George W. Bush says he’s against, he ends up working for.
That basic truth about the political identity of George W. Bush is recognized by this bumper sticker, which reads, “George W. Bush is the Weapon of Mass Destruction”. Bush says that he’s against weapons of mass destruction, but he presides over the world’s largest arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. Bush is also a recklessly pro-war President, wreaking destruction wherever he can.

Too many of the environmentalist critiques of sport utility vehicles, however well-intentioned, fail to speak the language of the people they seek to convince. Most SUV drivers are not concerned with doing the right thing. They don’t care much about the social responsibility of their vehicles. They just like the bigness, and the vroom.
They also like way that SUVs look.
This bumper sticker appeals to the vanity of SUV drivers: That SUV makes your butt look big.

Every now and then, I come across a bumper sticker design so apt, and yet so evocatively disturbing, that I both want to put it on the back of my car right away and am afraid even to look at it again. That’s the case with the bumper sticker you see here, which has the simple message: Bring Back the Dark Ages. Vote Republican.

Stop and think historically for just a minute and you’ll see the clear connections between the right wing’s ideology and the Dark Ages. The Republican agenda is essentially motivated by a medieval way of thinking, and the consequences we suffer are like the suffering of the Dark Ages.
War. Ignorance. Lack of progress. Persecution. Torture. Inability to fight disease. Lack of preparation for disaster. Fear. Centralized power. Theocracy.
Line up the world that the Republicans threaten to bring us alongside the Dark Ages, and they match with frightening accuracy. Thus, the words of this bumper sticker strike deep: Bring Back the Dark Ages. Vote Republican.
The design is elegant as it is creepy. The color scheme suggests something ancient, as the image is ancient, a medieval danse macabre image of two skeletons with a priest leading another person off to their doom.
Bright and cheery, it is not. Yet, the message gets through, loud and clear.

If there’s one thing that Joseph Biden has going for him as a presidential candidate, it is his bold character. No one would ever mistake Senator Biden for a wall flower, or a reluctant leader.
This executive character attracts many supporters to him, and is reflected in this bumper sticker design:

The text merely states: Biden. The graphic design is, however, evocative of Joe Biden’s personality, and sends the message as much as the word. It isn’t bright and cheery and eager to please. There is darkness mixed in with the light, but the lines are stark and clear and strong.
This bumper sticker deserves recognition for the way that the appearance matches the directness of the message and the candidate.
