As strong progressives, we’re not big fans of a lot of the things that President Barack Obama does. Far too often, Obama compromises our values, and gives over unacceptable amounts to the right wing’s presumptuous claim to the American identity. However, when it comes to the accusation by Congressman Joe Wilson during Obama’s speech before a joint session of Congress, we’re not following along.
Joe Wilson, in response to Obama’s declaration that health care reform would not deliver government-funded medicine to illegal aliens, shouted, “You lie!”
The implication was that Barack Obama is involved in some sort of conspiracy to encourage illegal immigrants by providing them with free medical care. That’s just not true. As President Obama repeatedly explained, a public option would be for citizens. Tax credits would be for citizens. You can’t claim a tax credit if you’re here illegally.
So no, Joe Wilson, you lie.
Joe Wilson needs to apologize to America’s children!!
South Carolina has a long list of dignitaries that includes Lauren Caitlin Upton (Miss Teen USA 2007 pageant contestant), Board of Education Chair, Kristin Maguire, Governor (and avid Appalachian hiker), Mark Sanford and now Joe “the hater not a debater” Wilson or the “screamer not the dreamer” as others have dubbed him. I did enjoy him cut and running through his apology, which only goes to show that he stands for nothing. He is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.
No one is claiming he is part of a “conspiracy”. But if Obama was telling the truth, WHY will proof of citizenship not be required before health care is administered??
When are you Democrats and Republicans going to get it into your thick heads, AMERICA is and originally was, not about Political Parties. Who gives a HooteNanny!! I am sick and tired as an American and Veteran of you always pushing the little guys around, and thinking you know what is better for us. I am just as educated, and have more common sence, than most of your representatives. Just wait till President Obama takes more of your money, more of your toys, more of your liberties. You cannot expect the government to be your BB sitter. If you do, then you will get what you deserve, and thereby forcing those of us who disagreed with your agenda, and therefore, making slaves of us as well. It is time you studied History and take responsibility for your actions, Accountability for you and accountability for your wayward representatives. If you have not studied the issues in depth, then do us all a favor and do not Vote. And I say piss on your parties, because there is no difference in the two. We need a fresh Start, and that time is coming soon at your nearest ballot box. Time for the Granola, tree hugging Liberals and Socialists to go play, like they are a herd of Ostriches, with there heads in the sand. There are changes coming and We The People will not tolerate anymore of your wreck-less ideas, that border on insanity, and porkerize bills that spend us into oblivion. And another thing as far as health care goes, Illegals Yes I said Illegals can get Illegal documents just like anyone else that wants to do illegal things. So go Joe Yes Obama Lied, now as of today Obama has said he want to give all of the illegals amnesty, and then they too can have health care. Boy this just gets better and better.
Some call Joe Wilson a great statesman, and are even proud of his “Shout Out”, so lets see, he says, he was told by the Republican leadership to apologize (he did not realize the magnitude of his mistake), he then gives his weak “not for reals” apology, but then goes on to those “Commentator Talk Shows” and basically says he real was not wrong and plays the victim card and calls for people to send in for money to support him for re-election. Had he kept quiet after his apology, that might have been the end of it but now that people know he lied about the apology the story will continue, until he is out of a job and the funny thing is, he does not see it coming. This summer has been rough for his beleaguered political party. At least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC). In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”. The birthers, the tea baggers, the screamers, and the deathers continued extreme minority presence will become tiresome to mainstream America, if it has not already done so.
