In a December 1, 2009 debate, Massachusetts Senate candidate Martha Coakley declared that the Patriot Act was all about protecting Americans’ civil liberties. This isn’t the first time Martha Coakley has said lovely things about the Patriot Act: she sung its praises back in 2005 as well. Has Martha Coakley been SLEEPING since 2001? Since its passage, the USA Patriot Act has enabled the FBI and other government agencies to engage in surveillance against innocent, law-abiding Americans.
If you oppose the Patriot Act, don’t vote for Martha Coakley.
Please name an instance where a law-abiding US citizen has been falsely accused or jailed under the Patriot Act? I’m thinking..you can’t. Funny how Liberals moan and cry about the evils of the Patriot Act, but never seem to have any problems with government agencies illegally obtaining private records, like say OH state agencies that dug into Joe The Plumber’s personal income and child protection records in an attempt to discredit him.
“Patriot”, the fact that you’re even phrasing your challenge in that way shows that you don’t understand much of anything about the Patriot Act.
People aren’t accused or jailed with Patriot Act powers. They’re targeted for surveillance, the sort of extreme search and seizure that’s forbidden under the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.
How can you call yourself a patriot when you don’t even understand the basics of what’s going on in your own country?
