Politics should be polite. That doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be pushy. That doesn’t mean that criticisms should be muted. It means it’s political suicide to rush out with comments like the one made by Randy Neugebauer, a U.S. Representative who shouted at another Congressman during a recent debate, calling him a “baby killer”. Smart people in politics know how to provoke without going overboard.
Smart people are wondering what the heck is going on with the Tea Party movement that sprung up all of a sudden at the beginning of 2009, and continues to rattle cages to this day. At recent Tea Party actions, Tea Party members have spat upon members of Congress, and called them names like “nigger” and “Homo Communist”.
Hasn’t anyone told these people that tea parties are supposed to be polite affairs? One cannot continue to go on acting like a barbarian, throwing boxes into the harbor forever. If you’re going to have a Tea Party, you’ll have to be a bit more polite.
