We make the following bumper stickers on the subject of the environment available for sale through the print-on-demand website Zazzle, but they’re not all equally popular there. In the list below they’re ranked, from our most popular design (at the top) to our least popular design (at the bottom):

	Bumper Sticker Definition of Environmentalism

What is environmentalism? I prefer this simple definition:Environmentalism is the crazy idea that we ought to clean up after ourselves.Defuse all the crazy right wing political nonsense about the environment with this straight talking bumper sticker, which reminds people that taking care of the environment is just a matter of the family values we try to teach our children.

Is the Earth getting hot, or is it just me?

Is the Earth getting hot, or is it just me? This bumper sticker tries to be sexy and socially conscious at the same time. Read the bumper sticker through three or four times, and you’ll get the double meaning. Are you hot, or is it just global warming? It’s green for the environment on the inside, but red hot on the outside.

My Other Car is a Hiking Boot

Open people’s minds to alternative forms of transportation with this environmentalist bumpersticker that reads: My other car is a hiking boot. Have human beings forgotten how to walk? Help remind them how to put one foot in front of the other.

Fight Global Warming and Get on your Bike

Global warming comes from the pollution of big factories, but also from the personal cars people drive, even on short trips. Help reduce the carbon emissions that fuel global warming. Get on your bicycle when taking trips within a shorter range. In protecting the environment, every bit of conservation counts.

Stop Watering the Lawn (bumper sticker)

Stop Watering the Lawn — You Live in the Desert! If you are a resident of Eastern California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, or Arizona, you know what I’m talking about. Get your fellow residents to stop acting like they still live in Wisconsin! (environmentalist sticker for denizens of the Southwest)

Tree Hugger Not A Smokestack Hugger

Pro-pollution activists mock environmentalists as tree huggers, but what’s the true alternative to environmentalism? Ought we to live in filth? As for myself, I would rather be a tree hugger than a smokestack hugger. Show the true alternative to living green with this environmentalist bumper sticker.

	Drill, Baby, Drill? Bumper Sticker

Golly, but those Republicans sure had a good time chanting Drill, Baby, Drill during the last election cycle, didn’t they? Ask the Republicans now: How’s that "Drill Baby Drill" thing working out for you? How’s it working out for us all? With BP and Deepwater Horizon, all we can say is "Good gracious!"

Notable for this month is the relative lack of sales for Barack Obama themed items. These were all the rage back in 2006, 2007, 2008 and even 2009. Now Barack Obama takes a back seat to current events such as the passage of immigrant-unfriendly SB 1070 in Arizona or the oil spill of BP’s Deepwater Horizons (making for Irregular Times’ most popular design of May 2010).

We offer many thousands of sticker designs we for sale, covering political and social issues ranging from gay marriage to members of Congress to religious heresy and right back down to this lingering question we have: is “Bingo” the farmer or the dog? Because we offer so many thousands of possibilities, the choices that people make about which of our bumper stickers to buy from month to month offer a glimpse of the passing zeitgeist, the collective conscience, the weltanschauung of the moment, so zu sagen.

With the end of the month approaching, it’s a good time to look at how the swag’s been swinging. The following are our top ten selling bumper stickers for November of 2009:

1. Question Authority. The saying remains applicable no matter which party is in power, don’t you know.

2. I Support President Obama. Because, FOX News appearances aside, there are still a lot of people in this country who do.

3. Another Old White Woman for Barack Obama. The bumper sticker started out as an don’t-pigeonhole-me alternative to the gender and racial polarization of the Clinton-Obama primary fight, but has remained pretty darned popular over time. Does that indicate that gender and race are still issues regarding the Obama presidency that people feel the need to counter?

4. Value All Families… it needs to be said, especially in yet another election where not all families were valued by voters. (See “Maine,” “Disappointment”)

5. Defend Marriage from Republican Bigots. See above. Who do they think they are to tell everyone else who can get married and who can’t?

6. Health Care for All, a bumper sticker that emerges as players in DC fight over whether this will actually come to pass.

7. Turn Off Your TV and Think: but wait, that’s not what Katie Couric said…

8. Jesus would heal the sick / Health Care Reform Now. Or what, do you think he would ask for proof of insurance first?

9. Is it Vietnam Yet? Sure, they call it “Iraq,” and it’s boxier-looking on the map, but it’s looking more like a quagmire every day…

10. The Thing Worse Than the Rebellion is the Thing that Causes the Rebellion, a saying by Frederick Douglass that still rings true, a century and a half later.

Elected to the House by voters in Arizona’s 2nd district, Trent Franks has tarnished his record with support for big government spending even when need is not established, denial of Americans’ right to equal protection under the law and implementation of Nanny State supervision of your internet browsing habits.

I know people who live in Arizona’s Congressional District 2, and they aren’t the kooks that Rep. Franks makes them look like by extension. It’s time to end the embarrassment. Bring Trent Franks home: he’s just too kooky to stay in Congress.

What’s on the mind of liberals these days? Are liberal Americans enamored with the politicians they’ve elected? Furious at the politicians they opposed in the November elections? Or more interested in non-electoral issues at hand? One indication is in the choice of stickers liberals choose to decorate their cars with. We’re a pretty sticky bunch, we lefties, but some of ideas we’re affixed to (I Support the Constitution and I Vote) are perennial in nature, while others (Get Your Rick Warren Off My Barack Obama) are more fleeting. Here are the notions most often sticking with us as the new year begins:

One indication is in the choice of stickers liberals choose to decorate their cars with. We’re a pretty sticky bunch, we lefties, and some ideas (Get Your Laws Off My Body, Not all Who Wander are Lost) are perennial favorites, while others (That One ’08) are more fleeting.

The Print On Demand (POD) bumper sticker makers at Zazzle make a useful tool available to shopkeepers: statistics in rank order displaying the most-often bumper stickers viewed within a time period. The frequency of recent bumpersticker views on our Zazzle webshop (which sticks solely to bumper stickers with liberal messages on them) is an indicator of liberal sentiment about social and political causes of the day. What are these causes, and how do liberals orient themselves toward them?

The following are the ten most viewed liberal bumper stickers (not including our presidential election bumper stickers, which for purposes of clarity we rank separately) on our Zazzle webshop for the week of April 22-29, 2008:

These messages are what liberals are looking for now. These searches capture the frequency of the liberal wavelength that’s resonating outside the presidential campaigns right now. Ask yourself: do they reflect what’s happening inside the presidential campaign?
