Gabrielle Giffords is not a progressive politician. She’s a conservative Blue Dog Democrat who supported Republican policies as often as she stood by Democratic ones, and almost never adopted a purely liberal stance. But although she does not share this website’s political philosophy, we nonetheless feel that her decision to dedicate her life to public service and civic improvement through political office is worthy of honor. Despite repeated threats and attacks against her property, she persisted in reaching out to her constituents in Arizona. We honor Gabrielle Giffords for continuing to act out her belief that it is possible for people to use political action for the greater good.

Be Sure to Show 'Em your Papers! Pro-Constitution message for your car" title="heading to arizona bumper sticker" width="417" height="373" class="alignright size-full wp-image-343" />Are you headed to Arizona? After the passage of SB 1070 in that state, you’d better be darned sure to show ‘em your papers. The new law requires police officers to stop and search people for their identity papers if the officers think they somehow look like illegal immigrants. The Constitution declares that people shall not be searched or have their papers seized except on the basis of probable cause — but the Arizona law would do away with this constitutional protection. It’s a good thing for you that U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of the land.

So when you find yourself headed to Arizona, be sure to show ‘em your papers, the papers that really matter. You know, the ones that begin “We the People…”

Democratic Representative Ann Kirkpatrick has worked to support just about every cockamamie far right wing idea that's run through the back halls of Congress. What a betrayal of trust!

In 2008, Democrats worked to elect Ann Kirkpatrick because they were sick of the right wing politics of Rick Renzi. Voters of all kinds in the 1st congressiona district voted for Kirkpatrick because they thought she would be a departure from the kooky Republican agenda promoted by Renzi.

Now, in 2009, voters see that they didn’t get what they thought they were voting for. Ann Kirkpatrick has turned her back on the progressive activists who fueled her campaign, and gone off to the House of Representatives to vote as if she were the second coming of Rick Renzi.

U.S. Representative Ann Kirkpatrick has worked to support just about every cockamamie far right wing idea that’s run through the back halls of Congress: Flag burning amendments to the Constitution, protecting government torturers, Star Wars missile defense boondoggles, even agitation against clean energy legislation.

What was the point of rank and file Democrats working so hard to put Ann Kirkpatrick in Congress, now that she’s acting like a Republican? Voter disgust at this hard right turn is what motivates this bumper sticker: Progressive Arizona Against Ann Kirkpatrick

Arizona Republican Trent Franks is the least progressive member of the House of Representatives.

The latest ratings of the House of Representatives have just come out, and the results are unequivocal: Trent Franks is the least progressive member of the United States Congress. Elected to the House by voters in Arizona’s 2nd district, Trent Franks has tarnished his record with support for big government spending even when need is not established, denial of Americans’ right to equal protection under the law and implementation of Nanny State supervision of your internet browsing habits.

I know people who live in Arizona’s Congressional District 2, and they aren’t the kooks that Rep. Franks makes them look like by extension. It’s time to end the embarrassment. Bring Trent Franks home: he’s just too kooky to stay in Congress.
