A couple of weeks ago, Paladino threatened to kill a reporter. Last week, they were screaming for a violent purge when Paladino told his supporters to take out New Yorkers of a different party like so much trash. “It’s not over until they’re laying on the ground and bleeding from the mouth and Carl Paladino is governor of New York!,” shouted back a politician supporting Paladino to cheers. This week, Carl Paladino went off on a rant saying that gay people shouldn’t have the right to get married and politicians shouldn’t have the right to march in gay pride parades because “I just think… that’s not how God created us.”

Whether he’s threatening to murder a particular person who bothers him or telling an entire group they’re not as good as he is, Carl Paladino is like the worst of the playground bullies, posing and flexing and spouting off, completely out of control. It’s only embarrassing in a campaign, but just imagine how bad it would be for New York State in practical terms if this man took the helm. Decades ago, most of the rest of us who live here in New York got past Paladino’s Me-Me-*!#$-Me variety of bigotry. We understand that no matter how different we look from one another we’re all in this together. Hatred does not represent New York in spirit. Hatred should not represent New York in the Governor’s office.

Elected to the House by voters in Arizona’s 2nd district, Trent Franks has tarnished his record with support for big government spending even when need is not established, denial of Americans’ right to equal protection under the law and implementation of Nanny State supervision of your internet browsing habits.

I know people who live in Arizona’s Congressional District 2, and they aren’t the kooks that Rep. Franks makes them look like by extension. It’s time to end the embarrassment. Bring Trent Franks home: he’s just too kooky to stay in Congress.
