We, the working people of America, can speak out on the streets – literally, in the case of bumper stickers.

It’s a tragic failure of our society when special perks for Wall Street fat cats are protected, but older Americans who have contributed to the system for decades are now going to have Medicare services denied to them.

This bumper sticker allows you to talk back to those people in power who think that they can take us for granted, as if we’re “the little people”. It’s a big bumper sticker, 12 by 4 inches, so no one will be able to mistake the message: Hands Off My Medicare!

“I myself became active as a physician, working in health care for many years, for 25 years really, trying to give people the care that they need in a very broken system that just keeps getting more broken… What I learned as a physician in health care is that there is so much we can do but that it’s hard to get politicians to listen to the solutions that are actually right there within our reach that could bring down the cost of health care, that could make it possible for all of us to have affordable and comprehensive health care insurance.”

The goal of fair access expands from health care to the total economy for Jill Stein. It’s been noted that she is the only presidential candidate to have visited any of the protests taking place across America as part of the occupation movement. Stein is taking stands that align her with the 99 percent, against corporate elites, just as Occupy Wall Street and its followers have done.

Stein isn’t just conveniently adopting the language of these protests, though. She’s been in the fight for a long time. Eleven months before Occupy Wall Street began, Stein said in a speech before students worrying about how they could begin their careers in a time of economic crisis, “The 400 wealthiest families across America quadrupled their wealth – four times over – in the past decade, whereas most people are struggling to just make ends meet, and to keep from going off the cliff.”

Jill Stein isn’t just posing as a member of the 99 percent. She’s the real deal. Stein can be a genuine President of the people. Support her campaign with this Stein for President bumper sticker.

Farenthold has pledged to undo the progress that has been made with health care reforms that are bringing medical care to increased numbers of Americans. Farenthold buys in to all sorts of strange conspiracy theories about what he calls “Obamacare”. He contends, for example, that government-provided health care has deprived people of the freedom to choose what they eat.

Can anyone point to a single story of government-run health care taking away their freedom to eat as they choose? Of course not.

The people of Corpus Christi and Brownsville need better than to be represented by this kind of corporate-backed buffoon. That’s why residents of the 27th congressional district in Texas are already organizing to replace Farenthold in 2012.

Goodness knows that Solomon Ortiz was not progressive enough, but Texas can do much better than Blake Farenthold. Spread the word with one of these bumper stickers: Brownsville Against Blake Farenthold and Texans Against Blake Farenthold.

No, we don’t, and Democrats in Congress are the reason we don’t. In the House of Representatives, the Blue Dog Democrats wrecked health care reform. In the Senate, five right wing Democrats joined the Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee today to vote against a public option in health care reform. These five Democratic turncoats were:

Max Baucus
Blanche Lincoln
Kent Conrad
Bill Nelson
Tom Carper

Progressive organizations agree – without a public option health care reform is rendered virtually meaningless. Now, these right wing Democratic senators have killed the public option. They’ve ripped the heart out of Barack Obama’s reform program.

So what are we going to do about it? Sit around and mope? No. We’re going to teach these anti-progressive Democrats a lesson about what happens when leaders break promises made to progressives. The progressives get organized, and they fight back.

In Arkansas, John Gray is leading the charge. He is challenging Blanche Lincoln from the left, asking why Lincoln is abandoning Democratic Party promises and voting like a Republican instead.

Today, Gray responded right away when he heard that Blanche Lincoln had voted against Barack Obama’s public option. Gray linked Lincoln’s anti-reform vote to the large campaign donations she receives from insurance companies and other commercial entities that make a profit from the broken status quo. “She has a rather large campaign chest, almost half of which is from the medical industries,” Gray said. “The fact that she is loyal to her sponsors is not at all surprising.”

Gray pledged to support single payer health care instead of the pro-industry sham promoted by Senator Lincoln. By eliminating the commercial inefficiencies created by insurance companies, the Gray Health Plan would enable savings that would pay for health care coverage for all Americans.

Universal health care coverage – remember that promise? John Gray has not forgotten. That’s a darned good reason to vote John Gray for Senate in 2010.

Joe Wilson, in response to Obama’s declaration that health care reform would not deliver government-funded medicine to illegal aliens, shouted, “You lie!”

The implication was that Barack Obama is involved in some sort of conspiracy to encourage illegal immigrants by providing them with free medical care. That’s just not true. As President Obama repeatedly explained, a public option would be for citizens. Tax credits would be for citizens. You can’t claim a tax credit if you’re here illegally.

So no, Joe Wilson, you lie.

As long as we’re surrendering to scare tactics in the health care reform debate, I say that we go whole hog, and go running down the street screaming, with our hands waving in the air.
