Cluster bombs have a nasty habit of killing innocent people. The bombs, which the United States supplies to the rest of the world, are dropped en masse during wars, but huge numbers of them don’t explode until much later, when they are picked up as small, shiny packages by little children or hit by farmers driving their plows as they work the soil.

Enough. Stop killing the farmers who grow food for a nation hungry for peace. Stop killing innocent children. It is time to ban cluster bombs now.

Out of 435 possible supporters, only three members of the U.S. House of Representatives have added their support for H.R. 996, a bill to stop the unrestricted sale and use of cluster bombs by the United States. Those three members are James McGovern of Massachusetts, Charles Boustany of Louisiana and Darrell Issa of California. Please, would you consider finding the phone number of your member of Congress today and calling him or her to recommend H.R. 996? If we work together, we can end the scourge of cluster bombs.

Arizona Republican Trent Franks is the least progressive member of the House of Representatives.

The latest ratings of the House of Representatives have just come out, and the results are unequivocal: Trent Franks is the least progressive member of the United States Congress. Elected to the House by voters in Arizona’s 2nd district, Trent Franks has tarnished his record with support for big government spending even when need is not established, denial of Americans’ right to equal protection under the law and implementation of Nanny State supervision of your internet browsing habits.

I know people who live in Arizona’s Congressional District 2, and they aren’t the kooks that Rep. Franks makes them look like by extension. It’s time to end the embarrassment. Bring Trent Franks home: he’s just too kooky to stay in Congress.
